Often a multitude of documents and drawings have to be loaded into the drawing management all at once. The fields are usually filled in automatically, assuming you have already named the files on your computer accordingly.
If this is not the case, you can import the corresponding metadata for each file from a .csv file.
This is how it works: When you've added documents or drawings for upload in the upload screen, the metadata extracted from the filename will be filled into the table as usual. You now have the possibility to select "Import metadata" and choose the respective .csv file from your computer (please be aware that we do not support the import of .xls files yet).
This is how the .csv file used in this example looks like. It was created in Excel and saved as .csv file type:
To make sure that the import works out, the .csv file needs to fulfill the following requirements:
- First row must contain column name
- First column must contain file names (with or without file extension)
- Column names must match what is defined as rule set block names and category name
As soon as the .csv file has been chosen, the file names from the list will be matched with names from the .csv’s first column. The imported data overwrites already entered values, information from columns or rows which cannot be matched are ignored. As soon as the import is done, the results are shown:
After a final check and the completion of missing data, simply 'Upload'!
